Im BACK!!

Hello Ladies!

I know I've been gone for far to long but now I'm BACK to share more inspiration! I won't waste time giving you excuses and useless details as to why I havent been blogging. Instead, I'll just jump right into the first post! It's July 1st which marks the half way point for summer, which can be an exciting thing for some, and sad for others; who like me are dreading the winter months (even though thye are still six months away). Well, enough rambling, lets get to the exciting part of the post! I have THREE DIY's that I wanted to share with you all. One is a very inexpemsive and easy way to make bangles that can easily transition into the fall, the other is a tip on how to keep your cosmetic tools clean to avoid applying bacteria, (where only your M.A.C belong)s and lastly an old remedy courtesy of my late unlce James Riley to help keep your teeth shining bright-white.

DIY FLORAL BANGLE

As you already know, I LOVE P.S.- I made this! If you are ever in a DIY rut and can't think of what you should make next, visit this site because Erica Domesek (Founder & Creater) always has the most innovative interpretations of the runway trends. I enjoy her DIY's because they are very easy and inexpensive to make, which is good for somebody like me who is less savvy when it comes to doing DIY projects. When I saw this floral bangle I knew I had to share it and make it! The instructions are just a click away! Enjoy!

This Spring designer’s collections were booming with blooms of colorfully layered prints, and none of them wowed us more than Prabal Gurung …the king of injecting a dose of tech-style in his textiles. To get in touch with our own flower power, we teamed up with our friends at Who What Wear to create an accessory that pays homage with decoupage…and brings together a few of a style savvy girl’s favorite things - DIY, fashion, technology, and flowers!       To create, you will need wooden or plastic bangles, as your blank canvas.  Gather real or faux flowers in a color scheme of your choice.  Group and arrange the flowers in a pattern and snap a picture with your phone or camera.  Send to print, as is, or upload to photoshop and duplicate to create a repeat pattern.  Once printed, cut out strips or small pieces which you will use to cover the inside and outside of your bangle.  Using Mod Podge, cover the inside of the bangle by “painting” the back of the paper and securing to the wood or plastic.  Continue all the way around, wrapping the edges of the cut outs, to cover the edge of the bangle. Continue on the outside and then add a final layer of Mod Podge once the bangle is completely covered in the flower print.    Click here to check out the step by step video with Hillary & Katherine of Who What Wear!

DIY MAKE-UP BRUSH CLEANER

Ok, so this is to all my make-up junkies out there. I'm sure the pro's may already know this, but to those of you that don't this will be a very helpful tip. So, how do we clean our make-up brushes? I'm sure if we look at our make-up brush under a microscope we would be shocked by all of the bacteria we would find taking up residence. I would always ask myself, "how can I clean my make-up brushes without having to pay for an overpriced solution from the store?" The answer was so simple, and tucked away in my kitchen cabinet; white wine vinegar. That was all I needed; along with a cup of hot water. This may be the easiest cleaning technique you'll ever learn. Simply take a glass of hot water and add a tabelspoon of white wine vinegar and place your make-up brushes in the glass to soak for about twenty minutes. After twenty minutes rinse them with hot water and then cold water, pat dry and voila! This home-remedy is very easy and effective, try to do this everytime you use them or atleast once a week.

DIY TEETH WHITENER

Last tip of the day, getting those not so pearly whites; PEARLY! My family originates from the south, so growing up I was exposed to home remedies for almost anything and everything (home remedies are a southern tradition). My late uncle James taught me a trick when I was a little girl that I still remember today. That trick was to kill the bacteria in my mouth and whiten my teeth. This inexspensive remedy required nothing other than good ol' hydrogen peroxide. All you have to do is use it as mouthwash and swish it around in your mouth for 1-2 minutes in the morning and evening. Not only will it kill bacteria, but it will also strengthen your gums and whiten your teeth. There is no need to purchase those expensive teeth whitening kits when they are mostly composed of the same ingredient you have in your medicine cabinet. Happy Cleansing!!
