Nicki Minaj in Oscar de la Renta

Aim your gaze at the picture below. This is a photo of Hip-Hop artist Nicki Minaj adorned in Oscar de la Renta for the AMA(American Music Awards). There is so much to say about this picture, but I need not to elaborate too much due to the fact that so many people already have. This gorgeous de la Renta piece is from his Spring 2012 collection that has yet to be released. In my opinion a gown of this magnitude would be much better suited at an award show such as the Grammy's where it is expected for celebrities to be adorned in ball gowns and couture pieces. I can appreciate the fact that she decided to wear something more tasteful than her usual 'gettups,' but for whatever reason I still find this picture to be offensive. Perhaps it is her pink hair that she paired along with this elegant gown or maybe it's because I feel that she is simply trying to hard to be fashionable and made the mistake of over dressing for the occasion.I would have much preferred for her usual costumes because at least she would be staying true to her image. Either way, it leaves me interested and stumped and disappointed all at the same time.
